BOTOX® is the brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
BOTOX® blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles.
The injected muscle can no longer contract (tighten) as forcefully, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.
BOTOX® is approved for the treatment of wrinkles, facial creases, frown lines on the forehead, crow’s feet (lines around the eyes), and hyperhidrosis (increased sweating of the armpits, hands, and feet). It has been injected into the target muscles by very tiny needles. The injection frequency shouldn’t occur any sooner than 3 months to prevent the development of resistance to Botox. You may be able to go for longer periods of time between Botox treatments if you receive Botox regularly, possibly up to 6 months.

- Schedule your Botox appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from the Botox injections will take approximately 4 to 7 days to appear. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.

Day of Treatment with Botox
- Arrive to the clinic with a “clean face”. Please do not wear makeup. You may bring your own makeup to apply after your treatment.

After Treatment with Botox
- Do NOT manipulate the treated area for 3 hours following treatment. Do NOT receive Facial/ Laser treatments or Microdermabrasion after Botox injections for at least 10 days. Ask the clinic if you are not sure about the time frame of certain services.
- It is best to try to exercise your treated muscles foe 1-2 hours after treatment (e.g. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows, and squinting). This helps to work Botox into your muscles.
- Do NOT lie down for 4 hours after your Botox treatment. This will prevent the Botox from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing drooping eyelid.
- You may apply an ice or cold gel pack to the area(s) treated (avoiding pressure) as this helps reduce swelling and the potential for bruising.
- Once you have adequately cooled/iced the area(s) as instructed and any pinpoint bleeding from the injection site(s) has subsided, you may begin wearing makeup.
.
- It can take approximately 4 to 7 days for results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks of your treatment you may need additional Botox. You are charged for the amount of product used. Therefore, you will be charged for the products used during any touch up or subsequent appointments.
- Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment. This will keep the Botox in the injected area and not elsewhere.
